Going through my pictures...

I have been going through my files of pictures trying to make them at least somewhat orderly!! In doing that I found several pictures that I thought would be fun to share. So here are a few odds and ends of pictures! :-)

When I found Megan on the wheelbarrow playing this summer it made me smile (please excuse the spaghetti face!), It reminded me of some fun times as a child playing for long periods of time just like this on a wheelbarrow. My sister Anna and I would each be on a different wheelbarrow and we would "Drive" our "Cars" by spinning the wheel. What fun!
This commic that was on display in the Children's science museum in St. Paul made me smile. You might need to click on it in order to read it.

Some of Jonathans photography. Can you guess what it is? (for the answer look at the bottom of the post)

My tree climbing girl. For a while it seemed like I was regularly having to rescue her from this tree. One time when she was out with the boys she even decided to relieve herself in it! Believe me, rescuing her that time wasn't all that pleasant.

Giving Clover and ride on the simple swing Uncle Luke helped the kids create.

Answer to above question: It is of looking down inside a beer bottle which we found in the woods when blueberry picking. I thought it was a rather creative picture.

A beautiful Fall day at my parents

Last week we enjoyed going out to Mom and Dad's for the morning. It is such a pretty time of year and their road has especially pretty leaves on it. Dad also has quite a few apple trees, above are some of their beautiful apples.
Here are some views in the Buck Goats pen.

Gorgeous maple leaves!
While we were there the kids helped Dad harvest their pumpkins and squash. They didn't get as many squash as normal but he got some BIG pumpkins! The largest is 150 lbs. I think they look a little obese as they don't have a real firm looking shape but look like they just sat down like a bunch of jello. Mom "Butchered" one of the 80 pounders and filled two big kettles up and then asked me if I didn't want some as she didn't know how she would cook it all. I cooked a bunch up too and put 16 containers of pumpkin puree in the freezer.

We certainly have an awesome Creator who continues to amaze me with the beauty and abundance that He gives to us!

Autumn is here!!

I have really been enjoying the Autumn season. The other day I was saddened to hear after someone commented favorably on the Fall weather, another replied "But it just means COLD! I don't like the cold weather." I feel bad when people look at the negative aspect of each season instead of appreciating the beauty that God packs into each one! With that said I thought I would share some of the things that say "Autumn" to me.
Above is a picture of my parents road. It doesn't look as beautiful in the picture as it really is. The leaves are gorgeous in a wide variety of colors. We have that around our place too, but not quite as much (in fact I suffer from Maple tree jealousy at this time of year as we don't have any).

I have also been enjoying the marigolds in my garden with have been blooming like crazy. They are a nice orange fall like color.
We also have leaves starting to fall. In our yard it is predominately oak leaves which have a very cool shape.
The flowers are going to seed, ready to send down seeds to make lots more flowers next year! Yea, I love flowers!
Political yard signs are popping up all over. I especially like the ones in this photo. :-)
Lots and lots of apples! I love how they look and we have had a blast picking them put I also very much enjoy the wonderful smell of hot applesauce with lots of cinnamon or apple pie or crisp! Yummy! Here is Jonathan helping to pick from a totally loaded crab apple tree. Another benefit of picking apples (which we found out about through freecycle) has been getting to meet more people.
Pumpkins! They are a very cheerful, "fall" looking vegetable.

Going to Ula's Hayride! Ula (a 90+ year old lady from church) had her 20th hayride party last week. It was attended by 131 people. We had a lot of fun and it is definitely part of Autumn for me. Above are David and Tomisha on the ride and below are Aaron, Jonathan and Harrison.
Grapes! We had fun on Monday picking grapes over at my parents. Jonathan and I also had fun making them into juice (which we are thinking about turning into jelly).
Other things that I enjoy are the Blue, blue skies, feeling cozy wearing a sweater and comfy socks, Hot chocolate and tea, Harvesting for the garden, picking up potatoes and that feeling that we need to get things done! Winter is coming.
What do you enjoy about Autumn?

"Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light afflictions is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

The generous man will be prosperous,
And he who waters will himself be watered.
He who withholds grain,
The people will cures him,
But blessing will be upon the head of him who sells it.
He who diligently seeks good seeks favor,
But he who searches after evil, it will come to him.
He who trusts in his riches will fall,
But the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.
He who troubles hi own house will inherit wind,
And the foolish will be servant to the wisehearted.
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
And he who is wise wins souls."
Proverbs 11:25-30

Happy 4th of July!!

Red, white and blue around our house. We have a busy day planned with putting new shingles on our roof, have a bunch of company for an evening picnic and going to the fire works. We plan on having fun and we hope you do too!!

God bless America!
